The Beehive

We went out to the local garden centre to have a look at sheds this morning only to find that the shed section had been dismantled (which was a shame because they have masses and masses to choose from, from small to the size of a granny flat) and re-jigged so we adjourned to the Beehive pub to continue our garden planning over a pint and a pork pie (each, of course).

The Beehive is the perfect place to talk of such things as it was where the wake of a lovely friend, Jago, was held after his funeral in November 2013.  He was an amazing plantsman ("always carry a teaspoon and pen knife with you, my dear") and lived just opposite.  We'd rather like our garden to be inspired by his - lots of containers of colourful and aromatic plants.

Friends attending his wake were invited to go over to his house and choose something from his small but packed garden to take away, in return for a small donation to the funds for the church where he was a regular worshipper.

But first, we must sort out how to drain the rainwater away which had settled after a late afternoon downpour, in the space where the old shed stood.  We really don't want a water feature.
