Consulting the oracle

When 'Ernie' was my boss, when we were very young, he was known as 'The Oracle'. None of us really knew what it meant, not being classics scholars, but to us it meant the fount of all knowledge, whether at work or in the pub, he always had a useful, insightful, contribution.

Now we are older, we rely on the internet to tell us everything, in this case the weather, and whether it was wise to set off on a 4 mile hike across the marshes for a pub lunch.

In the end it was right. We walked, got nettled and scratched and a bit lost [once!] before enjoying a lunch in a sunny beer garden by the river before home. We struggled with crosswords and Soduku in the garden before the rain came, as promised and shooed us inside.

England lost the match but won the series. I finished the crossword by cheating. The soduku went unsolved.

What a lovely way to spend a Sunday, with good companions, good food and things that don't quite need doing.
