The Allotment

Today was our first day of work on our new allotment. I run a separate blipfoto account, but this one will solely focus on our efforts to cultivate this little patch of Glasgow. Entries will probably only happen at weekends with maybe one or two during the week.

Firstly, it's actually half an allotment: the previous owners have given up half their existing patch because work commitments have reduced their ability to maintain it. So the previous owners are next door!

The plus of that is, it means the allotment is in fairly good nick. It may not look it from this pic, but the soil's good, there are no bad weeds (there's plenty of weeds, but none of the indestructible sort), and there's actually a few crops on the go: strawberries, potatos and even an asparagus bed. There's a coupe of fruit trees too: one is either plum or greengage and the other is, of all things, a fig tree. We also seem to have our very own robin - he'll undoubtedly feature in the blog sometime soon.
