Bennachie from Premnay

Today here began in a swirl of autumn mists, with a brief burst of sunshine mid-morning. By mid-afternoon, however, the sun broke through again, patchily at first, but then more consistently as the skies gradually cleared during the late afternoon and early evening.

This view of the northern flank of Bennachie across a field of ripening barley caught my eye as I was driving westward between Kirkton of Premnay and Auchleven on the road from Daies (where the B9002 crosses the railway between Insch and Oyne) at around 14:40 this afternoon.
