Just becaws...

Nothing to do with mis-spelled bovines nor yet a chorus of rooks: there's a cheese farm to the right of the village hence the Welsh word for their product (pronounced to rhyme with mouse) stands emblazoned on the hillside picked out in tiny conifers. It's an eye-catching way to draw attention to somewhere easily missed but well worth the detour.
Pantmawr Cheese has been made here, using local cows' and goats' milk for over 30 years, when the Jennings family returned to Wales from the Middle East where they had been involved in setting up some of the first commercial dairy in Libya and North Yemen.
Their farmyard cheese shop which  doubles as the village post office, is fragrant with the scent of  milk and mould, tasting is obligatory and there can't be many customers who leave empty-handed. They are also very nice people who are enthusiastic about their own product - see extra images.
