Rugby League Greats

This statue of 5 great Rugby League players was unveiled today - at Wembley - ahead of the Challenge Cup Final

Up at 4am this morning - into Keighley for 5am - to catch a coach down to Wembley Stadium to watch the Rugby League Challenge Cup Final - contested by Leeds Rhinos and Hull KR

Splendid atmosphere - over 80,000 in the crowd - who all gave singer Lizzie Jones a rapturous welcome - as she came onto the pitch to lead the singing of Abide With Me - the traditional Rugby League Hymn - just before the match started - her husband Danny - who played for Keighley Cougars - and was a Welsh International - died - aged 29 - whilst playing rugby in May of this year - a standing ovation was given to Lizzie at the end of the song - was a touching moment when her twins - under one year of age were brought onto the pitch by her sister

Final score - Leeds won 50 - nil - we had a great time - was challenging to find our seat - staying over in London tonight - looking forward to sight seeing tomorrow
