Fête de la Batteuse

Today's the day ........................... to thresh

Another very hot day today when we walked to the next village for the Fête de la Batteuse - a sort of Vintage Craft Fair.

There was all sorts of things to look at - threshing machines, tractors, people making wooden clogs, baskets or mohair blankets.  You could watch a ploughing display using a very old sort of plough or a blacksmith making horse-shoes.  And everywhere there were people dressed up in period costume to make your pictures look authentic.

This was someone putting the barley into the threshing machine that would sort the grain from the straw - and the other one is two small boys playing their part in the school classroom .......................
