Humpback whale

On entering the fiords of the Inside Passage the rain continued to fall but suddenly the whales appeared, huge,  was I glad we were on a big boat!! They seemed to be totally unconcerned about being disturbed and put on a great show for us.

The Inside Passage is a coastal route for oceangoing vessels which weaves its way through fiords where the sea is less rough than the open pacific. B C's portion on coastline extends to 25,000 miles, yes, I really did have a problem with these distances!

One of the naturalists we had on board reckoned to have travelled this distance in a kiak, huuuuuuum!
