Growing old disgracefully

By GOD

YOU HAD TO BEE THERE

To Langside College this morning to offer a workshop at the staff well being day. There was an exciting range of activities on offer, so I was pleasantly surprised to have a good turn out for mine. Feedback during inquiry is always fascinating. Some said they found it deeply relaxing and that it helped improve their focus. One participant said it was the first time he could remember not doing, simply being, and how good that felt.
Back home to have the first opportunity to be in the garden for 11 days. Naturally, there was a lot to do, but I decided just to be for a while, relaxing on the lounger in the sunshine and idly watching the bees do the work for me. I felt much more focussed then to take on some of the essential tasks. I am intrigued by the notion that when we allow ourselves time to be, rather than to do, we actually find more time for the things that must be done. Time and time again I have found this to be true - that time expands as we expand our awareness - a ten minute train journey is time lost if we spend it brooding on the past or worrying about the future, but if we spend in open awareness of our experience of the views from the window, our fellow passengers, the little stations we pass through, etc, we have really lived those moments instead of losing them.

THREE GOOD THINGS:
Friendly, helpful colleagues
Sunshine
Bees
