The last sunset of summer

Tomorrow is the official start of autumn so this evening is the end of summer. And as I post this the noise of fireworks from the Castle is marking the end of the Festivals too.

Although there have been lots of people around for them and lots in the islands the weather has been poor - in the west of Scotland the poorest in living memory. It has certainly been the wettest, dullest and coldest in our part of Argyll since we came to live in Glendaruel in 1992.

Back in Edinburgh this evening for the start of the new Parliamentary term tomorrow I noticed that some of the trees are beginning to turn already. But this spectacular view from Royal Terrace, reminded me that the sun is still around so who knows, maybe we will have a late flowering, Indian Summer before we are done.
