A Dane in Norway

At the edge of the mountains

We explored the southern edge of the higher mountains today. Went to Geysir and Gullfoss on the Golden Circle before venturing up the next valley on the western shoulder of Hekla. Went as far north as Hjalparfoss and the Viking Age farm at Støng. The farm was abandonned in 1104 because of an eruption from Hekla. The entire valley was left after another eruption in 1300. The farm was excavated in 1939. Our bonus was the area of Gjain, used as a location in Game of Thrones.

Blip is the geyser Strokka. Extras are Gullfoss and the Viking farm at Støng.
