The show must go on

Pudsey Bear Airshow Day!!
So after all the fretting, planning and worrying in light of the Shoreham crash the day had dawned with another problem of weather worries!! The weather forecast was a mixed bag and it was hit and miss as to whether we would get the rubbish weather or escape it altogether.
In the end we managed to get 19/24 acts flown with the first 2 hours of the program running as planned and unchanged. Unfortunately after that things went downhill a bit with the cancellation of some headline acts including The Vulcan, Sally B, The Gnat, Yak3 & The Trigs due poor weather. The brave Spanish Wing-Walker cheered up the crowd and got the flying restarted after around 40 mins break due rain, low cloud and poor viz and we managed to finish the show on a high with The Global Stars, Mark J solo, P40 & The Spartans all entertaining the crowd.

It was a challenge for me as it was the 1st time I’d had a pause for bad weather and a frantic time of head scratching and musing as to ‘do we call a halt now’ or ‘hold on for a weather  improvement’?? Glad we took the later option! However the fun and games wasn’t over as Dave & I still had to fly home in the Yak. All was looking good as we cleared Gransden, got pasted Duxford and began the push for home … then ooops! … right into cloud … so a 180 turn and bad weather divert into Duxford! Was I glad that Dave was flying??!!?!?! Thankfully 2 of our FCC were driving back home so we managed to divert them to get a lift back. Gotta love Great British weather – but with the Great British Bulldog Spirit a great day was still had by all!!!
