Just for the fun of it

National Forest

Took myself for a walk in the National Forest this evening, nice to see some poppies are out but its noticeable that there are not as many as last year.

This little composition caught my eye, the poppies add some colour to what otherwise would be a very green landscape.

The National Forest is a relatively new forest that encompasses and joins the ancient forests of Needwod and Charnwood. Some new woodland is planted on the site of old coalmine land, and farmers have been offered financial incentives to turn over some of the land to woodland. Most of the new woodland is broadleaf, so wildlife is thriving in these areas.
