Bamboo Grove

This morning the Once-A-Month Drawing Club met at a local bamboo nursery. Our leader is proficient at painting bamboo, which came in handy when she kindly did a demo for us at the beginning of our session. What I learned once before, but forgot, is the impressive array of colors and varieties of this graceful plant. Generally I think of bamboo as an invasive horrible pest, based on an encounter with a neighbor's hideous garden, but I was (somewhat) persuaded that there are other aspects to this plant. Not persuaded enough to bring any home, but enough to sit and draw for a couple hours and enjoy being in a peaceful unique forest.
