Quendale Bay

Hard to imagine from this picture that the sea was so rough this morning that the big boat from Aberdeen was delayed by over two hours and the little boat to Fair Isle didn't sail. I had hoped to be on the latter :-( Despite the sunshine there is a distinct sense of autumn around, not least in the behaviour of the wildlife. There were over 60 eider duck in Quendale Bay, some bobbing on the water and some sitting on the beach, and an even bigger flock of curlew flying overhead. A splendid sight - unfortunately I don't have the kind of camera to do them justice.
