Almost there

The following will be utterly meaningless and/or boring to those with no knowledge or interest in cricket - but it's my journal so tough luck!

After two seasons in the second division of the county championship Surrey are now within a few points of promotion back to the big time. The current game against Derbyshire now looks winnable thanks to a solid batting performance anchored by all rounder Zafar Ansari, pictured above striking a fine boundary.

I spent the morning session at the Oval which went fairly well as nearly 80 runs were added for the loss of only one wicket. Stupidly at the lunch break I decided to head home as it had become a little cold and the light was too poor for photography - this of course was the cue for the batsmen to cut loose and pile on a further 250 runs to set up a great chance for a win tomorrow.
