At the Auction.....

Mrs BM and myself took a trip to Aston Villa Football Ground for todays' property auction as there was a house  we wanted to bid on just up the road from where I live.
We got there in plenty of time to register and have a coffee and a sandwich before taking our seat for the auction.
It was ten minutes late in starting due to some technical difficulties with the computers and phones.
But it started away and our first property was up as lot 6 and the second would be lot 13, but there was a hold up as there was a bidding war for four properties in Birmingham and they went for almost twice the guide price each.
Then it was our lot, and it started low but went quickly up past the guide price and I was bidding all the way with one other guy on the left side of the room, then it hit the ceiling that we were prepared to go to and the guy was left with it.
I was sure that he hadn't read the legal pack as he was unaware of the supplements that was due to the seller, almost £5000 over and above the hammer price, oh well he should have.
So one down one to go...

Lot 13 was up after almost a half hour later and I was second to bid on it and once again it went right past the guide price and on toward our ceiling price, it slowed down and at one point I thought it was ours but the auctioneer hung around and the bids went up again in £1000 increments, it hung just below our threshold for a second time, and once again we thought we had won it but again some one bid and it went over our ceiling by about £4000.

So we had another coffee and went home empty handed but our first dealing with house auctions was not a total washout, we learned such a lot and we will return in December for the next if there is something that we are interested in.

When we left, the amount of folks that were standing was amazing, about three times that were sitting.
