Tawny Grisette

This little beauty is the Tawny Grisette - Amanita fulva - in its partial emergent form. There is an old proverb that says -  all fungi are edible, but some of them you can only eat once.  The Tawny Grisette is certainly toxic and a member of the Amanita genus that contains some of the most deadly of all fungi. It has to be prepared and cooked very carefully. Given the risk of mis-identifying it I wonder why people bother.
