South Coast Scribblings

Melford Hall

We visited here today after having a very nice pub lunch in Long Melford. This house is run by the National Trust and the original owner and his wife still live in one wing. Beatrix Potter was a frequent visitor here as she was a relation by the marriage of one of her cousins into the family I believe. (I have never read her books, but apparently the Tale of Mr. Jeremy Fisher was written during a visit here).

I'm going to try and add a few extra photos of the garden and an ancient door on the summer house. (Not working at present)...

We actually saw glimmers of sun today, but as soon as it went in it was pretty cold. More like October than September.
