Soay Sheep....

This is a Soay sheep and here is a brief description of it:
"The Soay sheep is a breed of domestic sheep (Ovis aries) descended from a population of feral sheep on the 250-acre (100 ha) island of Soay in the St. Kilda Archipelago, about 65 kilometres (40 mi) from the Western Isles of Scotland. It is one of the Northern European short-tailed sheep breeds."
I had to get up early to catch these rather skittish ladies in the field opposite our accommodation as they're not really that keen on people.
Apparently they pretty much take care of themselves and are very difficult to catch according to our lovely hostess, Alison who owns the farm where we're staying.  A rather nice day yesterday having lunch with some old friends and managing to catch a local Blues Festival in the nearest village to where we're staying...might pop back to the lovely pub, the Fleece Inn this afternoon as the festival is on all weekend.  We're off to a car boot sale at Cheltenham Race Course this morning which should be great fun....so an early start this morning...
