New River Walk - Reflections

This is my walk to Upper Street. It wanders between residential areas and is easily missed. In winter its an icy wonderland and in summer its bucolic - all that in the middle of N1. It's another hidden gem in the big smoke of London.

Neither new nor a river, it was an aqueduct commissioned by Hugh Myddleton
in 1613 to bring water from Hertfordshire into Sadlers Wells in central London. Amazingly the aqueduct still supplies water, accounting for 8% of London's consumption, and though it now ends at Stoke Newington the rest of the path is preserved as a nature trail.

And when I walk along the river I feel I have one step in the country and one in the city.
