Highclere Castle

A day out today with friends who I first worked with over 20 years ago. We went to Highclere Castle of Downton Abbey fame.  It is owned by the 8th Earl & Countess of Carnarvon and I'm interested in the work of the 5th Earl, who inherited Highclere in 1891 and in collaboration with Howard Carter discovered the tomb of Tutankhamun in 1922.  A few years ago I went to the Valley of the Kings and the Egyptian Museum in Cairo which were amazing beyond words.  

Unfortunately I couldn't take photos in the castle (including the fascinating Egyptian collection), so I've blipped one of the castle from an angle you don't normally see on the tv, mainly to record what a glorious day it was today.
