Dalmary Run

The running conditions were perfect for me. Overcast, a cool breeze and stunning Dalmary scenery to help me on my way to a 47.51 PB 10k time.

The yellow flash of broom along the track added colour to the landscape.

It also reminded me of the song Yellow on the Broom. It's a beautiful song about Scots gypsy-travellers. When they see the yellow broom they know that it is time to stop living in their winter house and to go out and travel the roads.

I'm weary for the springtime
Tae tak' the road yince mair
For the plantin' and the pearlin'
And the berry fields of Blair
We'll meet up wi' oor kinfolk
From a' the country roon'
When the ganaboot folk tak' the road
And the yellow's on the broom
