Framlingham Castle

This was today's outing! We walked round the top of the walls and then had a walk around the outside as you can see here (photo featuring son Paul). Afterwards we headed into the village from the castle and had tea and cake - it's becoming a tradition on this holiday. The slices are always huge and delicious - today I had Victoria Sandwich, yesterday Lemon Drizzle cake, and Carrot cake with sultanas and walnuts the day before that. And I don't feel guilty - I'm on holiday!!

Yesterday, when we were walking back to the house after attending Evensong at the local church, I remarked on a huge column of smoke going up into the sky. On the local news tonight we heard that buildings in Sudbury (the next town to where we are staying) had gone up in flames and the town centre was entirely closed today. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries. (We went in the opposite direction today, which is why we didn't know anything until the news this evening).

The weather was rather cool today, with sun at times.
