The Nave

This is Whipsnade Tree Cathedral.  No I'd never heard of it before today, but the National Trust app on iOS is a pretty cool thing for finding nearby things to see.  I'd finished in Luton around lunchtime and this was the one that caught my eye.

Planted in the 1930's by just two people as a WW1 memorial, the various varieties of trees are laid out as though a medieval cathedral would have been, with a nave, transept and various chapels.  The place has never been consecrated as a religious site, but it may as well have been.  A lovely, moving, peaceful place.  I spent an hour just wandering around the alleys and paths, sitting on carved benches and drinking in the atmosphere.  A good place to spend time.
