Western Reef Heron

This Western Reef Heron is also called the Western Reef Egret in Africa and parts of Asia. It is a medium sized bird, a bit more colourful than my other Waders and Plovers and in great numbers here in Oman. They tolerate a lens trained on them, but funnily enough only for so long, even if the photographer is a good distance away. When they've had enough of being looked at they move off but usually only do a graceful loop and come back to their special fishing 'patch' they don't like to share their special spot with other birds either!
