Haikography

Watching and listening

A strange crop has grown,
Gazing above in wonder,
Secrets to reveal.

A walk near Grantchester today ... weather a bit overcast, but the skies still glorious as they always are round here.

On out walk we came across this bank of radio telescopes.  One of them is a 'travelling telescope' which means it can be moved along a rail to another position.  The rail used is part of an old railway line apparently. (thank you Mr Beeching).  The telescopes are something to do with the University, not sure of their purpose .... Mark suggested they may be giant Sky dishes to provide viewing for all the students .....

After our walk we repaired to the Green Man pub  for vital refreshments and a chat with some lovely locals before heading back to our towalong home.

Extra's the church clock at Grantchester ... not at 10 to 3 but I'll quote Rupert Brookes words anyway ...

... and stands the clock at ten to three,
And is there honey still for tea?

Incidentally his name is on the war memorial in the churchyard but he is buried somewhere in Greece.
