Shtandart

Visiting Cowes for the first time is the Shtandart a replica of a 1703 Russian naval frigate originally built by Peter the Great and reconstructed in St. Petersburg in 1994 .

She was built using larch oak and pine and is richly decorated with wooden carvings all around the vessel.

Going aboard brings to life the cramped conditions for the crew of 25 sailors. Not sure I would want to be sailing on her in rough conditions. The extra pics show the whole ship and the main deck.

Just noticed I have notched up 1200 blips. Time to slow down I think.
