Pons Aelius

Waverley station was crawling with polis and sniffer dogs when I went to catch my train to Newcastle - apparently the Queen was visiting later in order to open the new Borders railway. 

It was a rather frantic day of interviewing, allocating, and general shoogling of tutors and students.

I noticed this new...thing...when I walked back past the "new" castle. On the nearest side there's a dolphin and something about Neptune and on the upper side it reads:
PONS AELIUS
Roman fort
Sets of cobbles in the ground mark the walls of the Principia (Headquarters) & Praetorium (Commanding officer's quarters).
