The Red and Golden Packets

A selection which were used at the Chinese Wedding Tea Ceremony on Saturday.  The tradition is for the couple to serve Chinese tea in small cups to members of the family, in order of seniority, and then the family give them gifts in these packets.  A chance to personally pass on best wishes for their future life together.

It was the first time we had attended such a ceremony, and as parents of the Groom, we should have gone first.  As we didn't know what to do, the parents of the Bride went first.  It was a very meaningful occasion, which we will repeat when we visit Singapore next year for the wedding celebration there.
