View From the Road

Despite feeling pretty miserable with my current viral infection I was able to drive to a photographic assignment south of Blenheim. I assisted friend Ricky with photography in a big wool shed. I held the monopod and softbox while Ricky did the photography. We stopped on the roadside on our way back to Blenheim. Out came our cameras and iPhones, up onto a fence we climbed. The view is across a vineyard and up the Awatere Valley towards Mount Tapuae-o-Uenuku. (Mount Tappy for short). This mountain is the highest peak in the north-east of the South Island. The name translates from the Maori as "Footprint of the Rainbow".
The cross in the foreground is the blades of a frost fighting machine. It gives a rather sacred feel to this image of our special mountain.
