MaggieD and I have had a brilliant day. Up sharp and an early walk for Rona. Off to the station for the train to Edinburgh then across to platform two (not 9 3/4!) to catch the first public run of the Borders Steam Special. A superb trip, running bang on time, with a great crew and of course, that smell of hot oil, steam and coal smoke. We arrived at Tweedbank, the end of the line for the moment, and met up with MaggieD's cousin and her husband. We enjoyed lunch at an excellent local restaurant before rejoining the train for the return trip.
Not even the sardine can of a commuter train home could spoil the mood of the day!
One final delight awaited at the station; James was waiting for us with Fiona and just had to get a cuddle or two.
