Too generous?

Each day the church remembers a number of people from the past. Some famous, many not so. Some have done remarkable things and, for some, the remarkable things have grown exponentially through the years. Today, we remember a man known for few things other than excessive generosity. Nicholas of Tolentino had a "kind and gentle manner" so he was put in charge of distributing food to the poor at the monastery gates. He took generosity so seriously that he got into trouble for giving too much away. I'm left wondering if you can be "too generous".
