Semuc Champey - Lanquin

We've just had a pretty mental few days in Lanquin in Guatemala and visiting Semuc Champey! We stayed in a party hostel called Zephyr and arrived on a Saturday in the middle of a massive 2 day party which included a dj they'd flown over from Holland. We met Mike, Alan and Speef there as planned and the next few days are a bit of a blur! We partied at night and during the day we recovered in the infinity pool looking out over the incredible mountainous landscape.

Finally when the lads left we did a day trip to Semuc Champey. This included awesome caving in a pitch black cave with only a candle to guide us and water up to our chests or in parts so deep that we had to swim. After navigating the ladders and climbing ropes of the caves we then hiked to a nearby mountain and looked down on the remarkable natural infinity pools that make Semuc Champey so unique. We spent the rest of the day chilling in these pools or following our guide to lots of other waterfalls and swimming areas. Before returning to Zephyr for our last night sleep.

Today we headed for Antigua via a number of different buses including a chicken bus from Guatemala City. These are basically souped-up old American school buses so called because locals often bring their poultry on them!
