The Canal Office

The Canal Office is part of a long time plan to model The Square at Ardrishaig.  I started with Ronnie's Garage last year and visited a couple of times since to get suitable photographs to complete the rest.  When finished it'll be part of the new harbour area at Port Appin along with South End pier.

The 'canal' is the Crinan Canal and Ardrishaig is a canal town.  The route from the Clyde through the canal to Fort William was known as the Royal Route because Queen Victoria and Prince Albert travelled the route in 1847.  The Crinan Canal, still in use, cuts across the neck of the Mull of Kintyre from Loch Fyne to the Sound of Jura and when opened in 1801 saved mariners almost 200 miles of dangerous passage.
