11 September: not just the anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center, but also the anniversary of the day that Pinochet seized power from the democratically elected Socialist government of Salvador Allende in Chile in 1973. Norwich welcomed Chilean refugees. Let's hope we will welcome others - call them what you will - who have been compelled to leave their homelands in fear of their lives.

I spent some time in London today, at the Battleship Building, sorting our my visa for India.  All went well. The sun was shining.  I am free to come and go as I choose. I feel so privileged.
