First impressions Bilbao

First backblip of seven (well 14 if you count the hotel blips too). I really shouldn't leave it that long.

An easy trip to Bilbao via LHR. We met up with various other people coming to the same conference in LHR, and shared a taxi to the centre and to our hotel.

After dropping our stuff, we headed out into the bright evening light to catch our first glimpse of the Guggenheim Museum, which dominates the waterfront in that part of town. A wander to the old town (Casco Viejo) and back along the right bank of the Nervion River, and dinner (excellent), as the light faded, at the Cafe Zubizuri just by the eponymous bridge.

We particularly liked the fact that the boats were called the Bilboats. Nice play on words.
