Sacramento canon

This bronze canon is displayed at the end of our village and points to the site of the wreck from where it was retrieved. The Portuguese galleon Sacramento was wrecked on 30th June 1647. Seventy two people survived and set out to walk the 1300 kms back to Mozambique. Only nine reached Delagoa Bay.
Local divers salvaged 40 bronze canons from the wreck in 1977.
