Getting the sparkle back

Hopes Reservoir and the Lammermuirs

These are the Lammermuir Hills, to the east of Edinburgh. The heather wasn't as good as last Sunday's but it wasn't bad either. The heather is managed for grouse who need young heather shoots for food and older heather for cover. We heard quite a lot of grouse, so they hadn't all been shot on 12th August when the season began. All in all it was a grand day with good views, quite a lot of sunshine, no rain (on us at least - we could see rain in the distance over the Pentands), and a visit to the Goblin Ha' pub in Gifford befor heading for home.
