An ordinary life....

Party!

Backblip

Typical Friday except for the fact we were heading to Alan's pal Lucy's 18th Birthday party this evening.

Typically this morning, Alan said he didn't want to go.  I reminded him that he always says that about events then goes and has a brilliant time.  Thankfully when it came to getting ready to head out, he was really excited and raring to go.

And as predicted, he had a brilliant time.  We all did!  :-))

Lucy and Alan have know each other since they went to pre-school together at the Craighalbert Centre.  They went to different Primary schools but met up again when they attended the same secondary school for three years till we moved house and Alan moved to his new school for the final two years of his school life.

We arrived and greeted the birthday girl who was mega excited and rightly so.  We knew there would be a few people there we would all know but we didn't expect to see lots of the staff from Alan's old secondary school there.  Oh my heavens how excited was he to see them?! He was beside himself!  And what was even lovelier was how absolutely delighted they were to see him. It was like a grand reunion!  Which, I suppose it was!  :-))

Once the buffet was over it was time to get the dancing started.  The DJ played Stevie Wonder's Happy Birthday and Alan asked Lucy to dance (my blip) and I think he was off the dance floor for no more than 10 minutes till the party finished!  He had a ball!   And this is the boy who hates being the centre of attention and didn't want to do anything for his 18th!   I suppose the pressure is off when it's not your party.

I've put some photos in extras.  The one with the ladies hugging Alan was at the end of the night when we were just about to leave.   They didn't want to let him go.
