Crazy About Birds

Juvenile Bald Eagle

I went out this morning on a trip with a birding group - out to a part of Assateague Island called Wash Flats - a place the general public is allowed to walk to (if you're willing to brave the mosquitoes, and interested in a long hike) but not drive or bicycle to. The birding group, however, was taken out there in a bus. It was fun, though we didn't seen anything extraordinary, except the first Bald Eagles I've seen since I've been here this year. This is a juvenile - maybe a second year? The extra is an adult pair - rather fuzzy. Both heavily cropped. There are at least two breeding pairs of Bald Eagles on the island, and it would appear their offspring are now successfully hanging around as well.
