Miss America

Our last night in the big apple was EPIC.

We successfully got the subway to the Brooklyn bridge, where we attached our 'love lock' for posterity or until they chop it off.

From there, we walked to TriBeCa to see the fire station featured in the film 'Ghostbusters'. It's still a working fire station and they have a ghostbusters sign up on the wall inside; Mr A asked if we could go inside for a photo and they said yes; he was a happy bunny! We've since heard they rarely ever allow this so it made the moment even sweeter.

As we walked up the street to the fire station, we noticed lots of trucks and crew and initially thought they might be filming for the remake of Ghostbusters, but they were filming the TV show 'The Affair'.

We have watched this and are looking forward to the next season starting in October, so it was really exciting to see a scene being filmed.

We chatted to one of the extras (we will watch out for him when that episode is on!) and when filming was done, we met one of the main characters, Helen (played by Maura Tierney).

Despite having a long day, she was happy to pose for a photo with me and promised to tell her cheating husband in the show (played by British actor Dominic West) that I said he was a rat!

Back on the subway, we headed to the city and debated whether we wanted to go up the Rockefeller Centre or the Empire State Building. RC would give us a good view of the city and ESB, but the Empire State is the Empire State, so it won out!

It didn't disappoint. Although the queue to get in and up wasn't bad at all, it was really crowded on the observation decks. As luck would have it, I'd taken my selfie stick, so was able to extend above the crowds and get some great shots. I knew it would come in handy ;-)

We couldn't leave America without having a burger so that was a must have last night too.

This morning we had a little bit of a lie in (8.15), before grabbing breakfast and another bus for a 5 hour city tour.
We visited:

Times Square
Rockefeller Centre
Madison square garden
Greenwich village
Soho
Wall st
9/11 memorial
Hell's Kitchen
Lincoln centre
Central Park
Dakota Building (where John & Yoko lived and where John Lennon was killed)
Strawberry fields (the John Lennon memorial garden)

If that wasn't enough, we also did a boat cruise to view the Manhattan skyline and the Statue of Liberty.

Once back at the hotel, we had just enough time to grab the last few souvenirs before we got our taxi to the airport.

It's been knackering, but we've seen and done some incredible things. Thanks for travelling along with us.
Normal boring service resumes tomorrow.

We are going to miss America :-(
