Church Path, Petersfield

I've never been to Petersfield Museum before, in all the 15 years we've lived here. What a revelation. Church Path is a very pretty historic path going round the churchyard. The museum used to be the old magistrates court and then the studio for Flora Twort, artist. While living here she painted hundreds of detailed pictures of local town scenes, showing people at work and going about their days. A veritable treasure trove for local historians. There is an exhibition of her work in her old upstairs studio, and some historical dresses downstairs. The Museum has purchased a larger building so that in years to come they will be able to display far more of their large collection. Very interesting.

While we were there, a group of young [say 7 years old] artists arrived for a painting session in the studio. Wonderful use of the space.

On a very wet day we were given a really warm welcome and enjoyed it enormously.
