'n Kiekie 'n Dag

Freiburg

It rained all the way there, but while there it rained a bit, then the sun came out, then it rained again, then the sun came out & it was hot & humid.

We put an address for a petrol station out of town in TomTom and had the address for a park & ride ready. Don't know where Thomas thought we wanted to go but we ended up in the centre of the city with lots of road works & closed streets, on a square with no vehicle access and halfway on a tram line. When we were able to move after the tram and a few buses went past we went into the first parking garage we saw - and it turned out to be the most expensive as well.

We went into the first coffee shop for cappuccino & a pretzel to regroup and then walked around the Altstadt.

When we left stopped for petrol at the first garage we saw. It was the first day we actually planned before we left the house and we ended up following our noses and stopping at whatever came up first.

On the way home we stopped at Aldi for food and wine. We got Kassler tjops, which C served with boiled potatoes & homemade mayonnaise (yes, we brought the mayo maker with). It was the first Kassler tjops I had since leaving South Africa. They used to serve it at cafeteria and university and it was my favourite.
