Norman View

This week's memory aid from Christchurch Priory.  It's a window ledge of Norman masonry: the top of an arcade arch from the old nave screen; two pieces of stone pillar; an animal head gargoyle; an acanthus capitol; a very weathered section of Norman turret; a piece of ironstone; a woodwormy piece of timber from the nave roof.  Outside the window are the remains of the old Norman castle and the Constable's House.  Oliver Cromwell blew those apart.
