Hummingbird Hawk Moth

I saw it.
I pointed the camera in its direction and managed an inflight snap.

The Hummingbird Hawk Moth had been seen several times in Elford Hall Gardens this year and I was marvelling at the six or seven species of butterfly that were still around when I spotted him.

Apparently this dramatic moth, along with the Painted Lady butterfly, is arriving more frequently in the UK from Africa.

I liked this photo too - reminded me of Arthur Rackham's illustrations.... fanciful or what !

Have a great weekend, blippers.  I'm off to see Nicole Kidman on stage tomorrow.

P.S.  the Butterfly Conservation website describes this moth as "immigrant,  suspected resident"
