Acorn-ucopia

Our weekend starts here! En route to our b&b in Devon (which is utterly amazing but more of that later) we stopped off at Greenway in Galmpton which was the holiday home of Agatha Christie. The house is lovely and has been left untouched since Christie's children moved on some years ago. All the original furniture and personal artefacts collected by the family remain at the house. We also visited the boathouse which is where the body was found in "Dead Man's Folly". The grounds and gardens were a joy to stroll round with things hidden in every nook and cranny. This acorn was found in the battery on top of one of the cannons and I thought this was appropriate as the house is now owned by the National Trust and the oak tree is their emblem.

Off to recline in my Super Queen size bed now after a totally delicious dinner of homemade soup followed by a selection of cheeses and pickles. Our room has it's own private deck and pond and the views are truly breathtaking. Highly recommend Mitchelcroft in Scorriton to anybody wanting to absorb some peace and calm as the setting is so tranquil. Our hosts have gone above any beyond too (even popping to the village to get me some painkillers) and nothing is too much trouble. Bliss, bliss, bliss.
