Circling

Midday run to Western Springs lake. A surprising number of spoonbills are still at the lake; they usually head south after the winter. I also saw swans "courting" (the cob chasing the pen across the lake), an Australian Coot feeding a very new chick, some Barbary doves, a karuhiruhi (pied shag) pair with a nest, and all the other usual birds.

As I went away from where I had been able to get quite long distance shots of the spoonbills, this one took to circling and on each circuit it passed above me. Despite the absence of colour, I really liked this for showing the bird in flight.

Off now to the Avondale College Show. Daughter C has been Wardrobe Mistress this year.
