Embassy of Finland

Alongside Canberra's spring flower festival is a month of open days and tours of various national embassies. Today, I visited the Embassies of Finland and Malaysia.

The Embassy of Finland is a modern building that blends with the environment in its open spaces, tall windows and use of warm timbers. I found it very inviting. There is a wall installation downstairs that is rock-like in appearance, which you can see (left) in the extra. The main image is of traditional Finnish jewellery, worn on this occasion by a Norwegian helper. She looked the part and was very tolerant of me aiming at her bust!

The Malaysian Embassy had more going on- a mock wedding in traditional style, a market of take-away national food, music and dance, imported produce and henna hand-painting. The people were full of laughter and friendliness and were proud to 'show off' their culture.

Oh- and thank you, ladies, for your kind comments on my bub-in-the-bath yesterday. :)
