Friday at long last

Today featured a hangover from a time nearly forgotten in the UK - the half day closing. When I first visited England in the mid 70s I learned that entire towns would shut down on, say, a Wednesday afternoon just because they could - it was never properly explained to me. The Scottish Government has kept this tradition alive by offering a half day Friday holiday in September and to add in extra quirkiness, the half day was today in Edinburgh and a week later for Glasgow. I love it!

After working the morning I meandered into town, got my hair cut, met my best friend for a cuppa and then took a train to meet S for a weekend in the country.
